Versarium

Mission & roadmap

Where Versarium is Headed.

Mission

Versarium is an open-access scripture study tool. Open any passage and see what cites, explains, and connects to it — conference talks, study helps, and an interactive citation graph — then follow what's interesting. Anchored in the Latter-day Saint corpus, it expands toward the full Christian and Jewish scholarly conversation about scripture.

Versarium is a study tool, not a content platform. Scripture text stays at the center; talks and most secondary sources link out to their canonical homes. We host public-domain and openly licensed material where it strengthens study — never as a substitute for visiting the source.

Roadmap

High-level direction. Detail evolves as we ship; this page stays oriented toward readers, not an internal checklist.

  1. Available

    Available now

Level 1 — a complete study surface for the Standard Works and modern revelation.

    • Full Standard Works with citation indicators on every verse
    • General Conference talks (1971–present) linked at paragraph level
    • Church study apparatus — Topical Guide, Bible Dictionary, Triple Index, JST, Come Follow Me
    • Keyword, verse-text, and semantic search; interactive citation graph
    • Accounts for notes, bookmarks, personal graphs, and study history
  2. In progress

    Building next

    Cycle 2 — a serious multi-tradition study foundation (public-domain and open-API sources).

    • Bible translations and side-by-side comparison
    • Strong's / lexicon tools, Hebrew–Greek interlinear, and word-study views
    • Typed scripture parallels (including Book of Mormon / Isaiah)
    • Public-domain LDS history (Journal of Discourses, History of the Church) alternating with classic Christian commentary
    • Jewish scholarship via Sefaria, plus ancient context texts as they land
  3. Planned

    Later

Deeper LDS scholarship and a full Christian academic apparatus — often gated on partnerships and licensing.

    • Licensed LDS scholarly corpora and Joseph Smith Papers integration
    • Book of Mormon critical text and edition-history layers
    • Major academic commentary indexes and manuscript tradition views
    • Cross-tradition lectionary comparison (deferred until the study spine is solid)
